Aegis Senior Living Project at 5252 California Ave SW on hold.

The October 2023 Southwest Design Review Board meeting for this project was canceled. According to the West Seattle Blog, Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections spokesperson Bryan Stevens told them: "We received notice from the applicant on Monday (10/16) that they have decided not to proceed with the project. We don’t have any details as to why they have decided not to move forward." Comment on the September 29 Recommendation Proposal for Presentation to the DRB

The Senior Living project at 5252 California Avenue SW by the developer Aegis Living has progressed to the Master Use Permit (MUP) Design Review Recommendation phase. Changes to the project after the EDG (Early Design Guidance) Report in February were made around April, and now a new Recommendation Proposal has been submitted on  September 29, 2023 for review by the SouthWest Design Review Board. Changes in the project from the Early Design Guidance phase have included higher building elevations and roof top structures extending to about 65-feet above the average grade on California Ave SW. See the link above "CURRENT DESIGN." These changes seem to fly in the face of many public comments addressing the inappropriate size and scale of the building adjacent to a residential zoned area. Public comments can be made at: https://cosaccela.seattle.gov/portal/Cap/CapDetail.aspx?Module=COSPubComments&capID1=23CAP&capID2=00000&capID3=01WLN&agencyCode=SEATTLE&IsToShowInspection= Other information about the project is available through the "MORE INFO." link above. The developer, Aegis Living, seeks partial Living Building certification for this project. Its website claims that the recently completed Aegis Living Lake Union is "The ...
